10 Gin Cocktail recipes to celebrate World Gin Day

It’s gin day most days as far as we’re concerned but World Gin Day deserves extra special attention.

Reach out for your favourite brand – or better still, why not push the boat out and try a new one? This is a celebration of gin after all. Next, mix up one of the following 10 classics, each made using one of the finest gins in our cabinet, Sipsmith, but of course, try them out with whatever brand you have to hand. They’re super-simple to make and absolutely banging in the taste department, and the best thing is, they’re all made using three ingredients, max. You’re welcome.

Dry Martini

50ml London Dry Gin
10-25ml dry vermouth
Lemon twist or olive to garnish

Method:
Combine the ingredients in an ice-filled mixing glass. Stir. Strain into a chilled Martini glass. Garnish with your choice of lemon twist or olive.

Gimlet

50ml London Dry Gin
25ml fresh lime juice
20ml simple syrup

Method:
Combine the ingredients in an ice-filled cocktail shaker. Shake. Strain into a chilled cocktail glass.

White Lady

50ml London Dry Gin
25ml triple sec or Cointreau
20ml fresh lemon juice

Method:
Combine the ingredients in an ice-filled cocktail shaker. Shake. Strain into a chilled cocktail glass.

Aviation

50ml London Dry Gin
10ml fresh lemon juice
10ml crème d’Yvette
10ml crème de violette (optional)
Maraschino cherry to garnish

Method:
Combine the ingredients in an ice-filled cocktail shaker. Shake well. Strain into a chilled cocktail cocktail glass. Garnish with a maraschino cherry.

Gibson

50ml London Dry Gin
20ml dry vermouth
1 dash of orange bitters (optional)
2 cocktail onions to garnish

Method:
Combine the ingredients in an ice-filled mixing glass. Stir. Strain into a chilled cocktail glass. Garnish with two cocktail onions threaded onto a cocktail stick.

Negroni

25ml London Dry Gin
25ml Campari
25ml sweet vermouth
Orange twist or wedge to garnish

Method:
Combine the ingredients in an ice-filled rocks glass or tumbler. Stir. Garnish with an orange twist or wedge.

Hanky Panky

30ml London Dry Gin
30ml sweet vermouth
5-10ml Fernet-Branca
Orange twist to garnish

Method:
Combine the ingredients in an ice-filled mixing glass. Stir. Strain into a chilled cocktail glass. Garnish with an orange twist.

The Bronx

25ml London Dry Gin
25ml dry vermouth
25ml fresh orange juice
Orange twist to garnish

Method:
Combine the ingredients in an ice-filled cocktail shaker. Shake well. Strain into a chilled cocktail glass. Garnish with am orange twist.

Dirty Martini

50ml London Dry Gin
15ml dry vermouth
5-10ml brine from a jar of olives
Olives to garnish

Method:
Combine the ingredients in an ice-filled mixing glass. Stir. Strain into a chilled cocktail glass. Garnish with olives.

Tom Collins

50ml London Dry Gin
50ml fresh lemon sour mix*
100ml soda water or sparkling water
Lemon wheel to garnish

Method:
Combine the ingredients in an ice-filled cocktail glass, or a slightly narrower collins glass. Garnish with a lemon wheel.
