Things we’re looking forward to this week…
You know you’re in for a good one when the cocktail outings kick off on the first school night of the week – usually we get things going with Martini Mondays at home. Still, after the fun we had at The Shop seven days ago, we’re thinking that starting off the way we mean to go on isn’t such a bad idea after all…
This week we’re heading to the City, land of the suited and booted to check out The Drift, a new bar in Heron Tower. It’s from the team behind two of the most popular bars around these parts, The Folly and The Anthologist so we’re looking forward to seeing if they can keep the magic going. There’s talk of a mixology table, afternoon tea cocktails and liquid desserts, in our books it seems like the odds are pretty good…
On Tuesday we’re Brighton-bound to join Tony Conigliaro, Carl Stephenson and Tomas Estes for the first in a series of roadshows featuring masterclasses, competitions, talks and drinks from our friends at the recently launched Cask Liquid Marketing portfolio. … Wednesday should be fun – we’re making cocktails for the lovely Jo Good and her guests on the late show on Radio London. Tune in to 94.9FM from 10pm to hear our ramblings… Bombay Sapphire seem to be working overtime on its Infused With Imagination project at the moment. We’re heading down to its Book Slam on Thursday for an evening of fun and culture, taking in improvised readings, performance and music. And Friday? After that little lot maybe we’ll just end the week with Martinis at home….
Words to the wise
It makes sense for Bombay Sapphire to team up with Book Slam, some of the world’s greatest writers were partial to a drop. Dylan Thomas, Tennessee Williams, Ernest Hemingway, F. Scott Fitzgerald, Jack Kerouac and Kingsley Amis are just a few literary talents renowned for writing under the influence, with Truman Capote taking it to excessive levels (he’s reputed to have written In Cold Blood fuelled on a double martini before lunch, another with lunch and a Stinger to follow that!)
