Things we’re looking forward to this week…

Drinks on the menu this week: Tanqueray Glorious Punch

Blimey, where has the month gone? And more to the point, what’s happened to our share of summer? We hate being all British and weather obsessive but along with everyone else on this side of the pond we’re hoping it behaves itself this week as school’s out and we’re hoping to have some fun in the sun.

The Shop in Kensal Rise is top of our must-visit list this week. Why? We’re hearing it’s doing great things with cocktails in milk bottles and jam jars. Besides, it’s about time north west London flexed its muscles on the bar scene… A visit to a bourbon bar might not seem particularly summery but seeing as grey skies and low temperatures have been dominating of late, sipping on the small batch bourbons and classic cocktails at JW Steakhouse and Bourbon Bar at the end of July doesn’t seem entirely out of place…

That said, Thursday had better be dry, bright and hot. It’s Ladies Day at Glorious Goodwood and Ms S is hoping to style it out in a hat. As well as first-class racing and a bit of ‘sleb spotting, we’re looking forward to some stunning cocktails in the Tanqueray Bar… Friday is culture and cocktails at the Bombay Sapphire Imagination Bar at V&A Lates. Set in the John Madjeski Garden the part Victorian, part modern bar promises to be every bit as drool worthy as the exhibits in the galleries and the best bit is, visitors will get to try one of three new and two classic Bombay Sapphire cocktails.

As for the weekend, the Vintage Festival on the South Bank is definitely where it’s at. In between watching vintage films, shopping for vintage fashion in the marketplace, checking out the Chap Olympiad and dancing, we’ll be sipping Ketel One and more Tanqueray tipples in the historic cocktail bar.

Words to the wise…
