This Saturday, don’t be alarmed to see an abundance of comedy Guinness hats and giant shamrocks spilling from the interior of rowdy pubs… St. Patrick’s Day is back once again! The Feast of St. Patrick – which falls on the death day of the foremost patron saint of Ireland – has been adopted for those who want to go and sink a few in the name of a good craic. And we’ve rounded up some creative cocktails inspired by the Emerald Isle, that will have you calling ‘slaïnte’ into the wee hours!

St. Patrick’s Soirée at Bloomsbury Club Bar

For a rather more refined Irish soiree this Patrick’s Day, look no further than the prestigious Irish family-owned Bloomsbury Club Bar. Amongst the twinkling lights guests will be invited to appreciate everything elegant about the Emerald Isle, alongside a specially curated Dingle Distillery bespoke cocktail menu. We love the sound of the ‘The Founding Fathers’ (Dingle Original Gin, Elixir Combier, Maraschino Liqueur, Orange bitters, Peychaud’s Bitters, Barrel Aged), and the bespoke cocktail menu will be served alongside stouts and Dublin pale ales from independent Irish craft brewer, Porterhouse Brewing Company,  including a new limited edition release, Porterhouse Bounty Hunter brewed specially for the occasion.

You’ll also find yourself tapping your feet to the sound of live acoustic Irish music, and can tuck into a special bar food menu inspired by the West Coast of Ireland that includes mini stout cakes with Irish whisky cream, and hot smoked salmon with colcannon potatoes and caper butter.

Legendary Irish Coffee, Guinness & live music at Swift

Can you officially say you’ve celebrated St. Patrick’s Day if you’ve not enjoyed an Irish Coffee? Just to play it safe, we suggest a trip to Swift on Saturday, to enjoy a day of celebrations, special cocktails and live music in honour of the Emerald isle – plus, of course, their signature Irish Coffee. This spectacular version of the classic combines Jamesons Caskmates with Demerera-sweetened filter coffee, a float of chilled, hand-whipped cream and a grating of fresh nutmeg, and is a must-try.
Open from midday on the Saturday, both the upstairs and downstairs bar will have a special menu inspired by the old pubs of Ireland, including five cocktails all featuring Irish whiskey – Jameson’s, Redbreast and Green Spot, and there will be Irish themed live music in the evening, whilst those participating in the celebrations will be served a portion of Barmbrack – a traditional Irish teacake.

Midleton Very Rare Champagne cocktail at Corrigan’s of Mayfair

Forget your pints of Guinness (or at least take a short break from them) – St. Patrick’s Day is taking an altogether more swanky turn at Corrigan’s Mayfair. There’ll be a whole day of feasting celebration with Saturday lunch and dinner menus based on traditional Irish fare, and guests will be invited to toast to St. Patrick with a Midleton Champagne cocktail. This delectable mixture consists of Midleton Very Rare premium Irish Whiskey topped up with Perrier-Jouët Blanc de Blancs, and is priced at £45 per cocktail. A very top of the morning to you!

Go green with the Hendrick’s Cucumber Smash

If you’re bringing the party home this weekend, then why not celebrate St. Patrick’s Day by whipping up a gin cocktail inspired by the Emerald Isle – with the hue to match.

Cucumber Smash recipe:

¾ part freshly-squeezed lemon juice
¾ part simple syrup
One small bunch of basil (3-5 leaves)
3-5 cucumber wheels

Method:
Muddle basil, cucumber and simple syrup in a mixing glass. Add Hendrick’s, lemon juice and ice. Shake well and finely strain into an iced tumbler. Garnish with a cucumber wheel
