Invented in the 1890’s by an American engineer working in Cuba’s Daiquiri mountains, this classic has largely been superceded by its fruity, frozen cousins. However, we find the original remains one of the simplest yet most satisfying cocktails.
Our Tips:
Use good quality light rum. Roll the lime along your work surface to extract maximum juice. Never, ever use lime cordial or you will be banished to the naughty corner.
Ingredients:
2 ounces light rum
1 ounce fresh lime juice
½ ounce simple syrup
Lime wedge
Method:
Rim a chilled cocktail glass with the lime wedge. Shake the remaining ingredients vigorously with plenty of ice in a shaker then strain into glass. Squeeze the lime wedge over the glass before dropping it in.
