Enjoy the taste of love throughout February

ByThe Cocktail Lovers

Missed booking a table for Valentine’s Day? No worries, we’ve got you with two fabulous loved-up offerings available throughout February.

The first is the Renais (M)onth of Love menu at M Restaurant in the City. It’s a winner, not only well-priced – a bargain at £55 per head, including the extremely quaffable Emma Spritz (Renais Gin, Chablis wine, elderflower, lemon juice and soda water) as your welcome drink. For and extra £25, you get three specially paired drinks – a mix of wines and cocktails created by Jack Sotti – each of them absolutely gorgeous and well worth the supplement.

On the menu: grilled oyster with Champagne sauce and caviar (paired with the aforementioned Emma Spritz); followed by wild-farmed black truffle tortellini with chanterelles, ceps and crème fraîche (Mirabeau, Etoile, Côte de Provence). The next course is a blinder – it’s the tender-as-you-like chateaubriand (or for an additional £15 you can tuck into a sumptuous côte de boeuf) alongside the most exquisite 15-hour wagyu chips and seasonal greens. This combo is matched with the softer, fruitier Renais Negroni Fraise (Renais Gin, Aperol, Belsazar White Vermouth and strawberry).

Save room for the last course, the extremely moreish hot baked apple cake, served with apple caramel and vanilla ice cream (trust us, it’s divine!) – perfectly matched with a chilled glass of Veuve Clicquot Yellow Label Champagne.

More deliciousness comes from the glorious meeting of minds and tastes with the special The Balvenie and José Pizarro partnership. Book a table at any of the three Pizarro sites in Broadgate, Bermondsey and the Royal Academy and round off your meal with the delicious, extremely decadent Valentine’s Day pairing, comprising two drams of The Balvenie Doublewood 12-year-old and one of the best desserts we’ve every tasted – the rich but light, extremely sumptuous Tarte de Amor.

Tarta de Amor and The Balvenie Doublewood 12-year-old

Not for nothing is José Pizarro known as The Godfather of Spanish cuisine. The dreamy salted caramel chocolate ganache tart is a work of choc-tastic perfection, matched by The Balvenie’s signature honeyed sweetness. As José remarked: “Pizarro’s and The Balvenie share the same dedication to craft and a desire to create meaningful and memorable experiences for those who enjoy great food and drink. DoubleWood 12-year-old provides the perfect complement to the Tarta de Amor.”

And Sean Fennelly, Brand Ambassador at The Balvenie, agrees: “The Balvenie has always celebrated the ‘craft’ of whisky making and the idea that it’s worth taking a little extra time to produce something incredible. You only need to spend five minutes in the company of José Pizarro to tell that he shares the same philosophy through his food. Some pairings of food and whisky work in harmony, while others hinge on contrast. The very finest pairings, like the most successful couples – balance both.” Amen to that!

The price for the pairing is equally swoon worthy – just £14.50 for the Tarta de Amor and two 25ml drams of DoubleWood 12-year-old.
