Here’s one we like: cocktails and classical music – it’s the perfect fit for the popular Night Shift sessions by the Orchestra of the Age of Enlightenment. Much-loved by London’s hip and happening dudes and dudettes, these no-rules, no-fuss musical events take the pomp out of classical music, encouraging guests to wander around, clap at will, have a natter and partake in a drink as and when it tickles their fancy.
Naturally this free-spirited approach to an otherwise dour subject was just crying out for a cocktail to go with. Enter the Night Shift, a sophisticated but playful blend of Bacardi rum infused with hibiscus, Himalayan goji berry liqueur and fresh lime juice. Created by Skylon bar manager Nebojsa Kutlesic, it will be on the menu when the next late-night series kicks off with Bach’s Suite No. 3 on 4 March at Queen Elizabeth Hall.
The Night Shift cocktail will be on sale for three months as part of Skylon’s new Spring Cocktail Collection, priced £11.
The Night Shift concert series starts at 9pm on 4 March at the Queen Elizabeth Hall, South Bank SE1. T: 0844 847 9922. oae.co.uk/nightshift. Tickets £9 in advance, £12 on the door.
