Forget chi-chi picnics, champers and rock at Buck House, the only place to be this Jubilee Weekend is God Save The Clam in sunny Hackney…
This is how Londoners do the New England Clam Bake: with a feisty two finger salute to tradition and bucketloads of style. Yes, there are beach huts, a sun deck and an ice cream bar but they’ve been punked up to the max, providing the perfect backdrop for the right royal line-up of DJs including Don Letts, Jon Kahuna, Sophie Lloyd and Gizzi Erskine.

HM would definitely approve of the eats on offer, a selection of finger-licking good seafood dishes from Tom Adam of Pitt Cue & Co and Carl Clarke from Rock Lobsta. Go for the full monty – three courses including welcome drink and The God Save The Clam Bake Buckets packed with mussels, cockles, devilled crayfish, crab claws and of course, the star of the show: the clam. We’ll be heading straight to the Banshee Bar for Tradicional tequila cocktails (very much looking forward to the De-Constructed Sangarita) followed by a Pitt Cue Pulled Pork and Fried Shrimp Po Boy from the Shack Snack Bar. Hopefully, see you there.
Until Sunday 3rd June at Émigré Studios, 274 Richmond Road, London E8 3QW.
Open for lunch from 12-3pm. Dinner from 6pm-11pm; Snack Shack & Banshee Bar: Thurs 31st 6-11pm, 1st-3rd June 12pm-11pm. Tickets: £40 for 3 courses including welcome drink. To be bought in advance from the website.
