No 1 in a series of 11, talking to the winners of G’Vine Perspectives Global Challenge about the unconventional people who inspired them to create new G’Vine serves.
Ada Coleman
“The bar world in the early 1900s was dominated by men but Ada Coleman did things on her own terms to become the first, and to date only, female head bartender at The American Bar at The Savoy.
She was a strong figurehead within the bartending community of the time and I couldn’t think of anyone better to celebrate. When I first started bartending I was really inspired by her work. I liked her attitude, it was relaxed and confident.
She also has a lot of relevance to gin because of her creation, the Hanky Panky, so I wanted to do something in a similar style, something strong that would wake you up. I call it Ode To Ada.”
