Neither Mr G nor Ms S is really a fan of Tequila as it comes (all that shot nonsense, please!). But lurking in this wonderful drink we find it more than acceptable. Along with all the inevitable variations there is the more contemporary Frozen Margarita but that’s a whole different story.
Our tips:
This very special cocktail has its own very special glass called, guess what? the Margarita glass. It’s delightful, it’s elegant, but feel free to use a regular cocktail glass – we won’t tell if you don’t. And roll your lime vigorously along your work surface before squeezing as this helps to extract more juice.
Ingredients:
3 ounces white Tequila
2 ounces Cointreau
1 ounce fresh lime juice
Lime wedge
Fine salt
Method:
Rim the chilled glass with the lime wedge before taking the glass and running the rim in salt until it’s lightly coated all the way round. Shake the Tequila, Cointreau and lime juice with plenty of ice. Strain into the glass. Squeeze the lime wedge over the drink and drop it in.
