Tell us Brian, what is it about the Daiquiri that has made it a constant throughout drinking history?
I suppose as with a lot of other classic cocktails, it’s because of the tried and tested mixture of a base spirit, citrus and sweet. It’s a crowd pleaser and never goes out of fashion because it’s perfect.
What external influences have inspired you from the era you have chosen?
I used to make this drink in the 80s and I updated the recipe from what I was making back then. It’s funny how Disco drinks are making a real comeback, they have come full circle and I’m making something similar to what I was doing way back when.
What cues from the era have you included in your drink?
I used a float of Galliano, which instantly screams Disco cocktails.
Tell us about your Daiquiri and why people should drink it on National Daiquiri Day.
It’s a fun drink, one which doesn’t take itself too seriously but still tastes great, and it’s also retro in a good way.
Can you suggest one simple way that cocktail lover’s can elevate their Daiquiri making at home?
I know it sounds obvious, but make sure you measure out your ingredients. If you measure them out then you ensure you get a perfectly balanced Daiquiri each and every time you make one.
