We were looking forward to the opening The Nightjar. Located on City Road, it describes itself as a Speakeasy for discerning drinkers, lounge lovers and late night hedonists. So how could we refuse an invitation to the pre-launch party?
Thankfully, it didn’t disappoint. It manages to capture the said Speakeasy vibe whilst exuding a very British feel too in the shape of cocktails like the Fog Cutter. This, like all the other drinks being showcased including the Nightjar Ladybird , were expertly mixed and refreshingly original. There’s also a full programme of music planned including 1930’s Berlin Cabaret and tap dancing. We think the charming owners, Edmund and Róisín, may well have a winner on their hands. We’ll be heading back soon for some late-night hedonising.
