Penhaligon’s Juniper Sling

It makes sense that Penhaligon’s, one of the oldest perfumeurs in the UK should come up with a fragrance inspired by gin. After all, the aromatic and iconic tipple is inextricably linked with British history.

Inspired by the clean, crisp notes of juniper berries found in London Dry gin this brand new scent has been created for spirited men and women with a taste for the unusual.

Don’t worry though, it doesn’t leave you smelling like a lush; in fact its creator Master Perfumer Olivier Cresp has come up with an intriguing yet delicate fragrance which blends brown sugar, black cherry and amber with head notes of cinnamon, orange brandy, angelica and juniper berry. There’s also cardamom, leather, black pepper and orris at its heart.

And you don’t need to be a gin-lover to appreciate it, like all fragrances in the Penhaligon’s collection, this is an absolute classic formulated to be worn every day.

Ms S says:

I’d definitely wear it – in fact I have done on a few occasions and it works really well. There is a slight touch of after shave about the fragrance but on the whole, it’s light and sweet enough for a woman’s scent.

Mr G says:

I’ve always been a fan of Penhaligon’s. Once again they’ve created a fragance that cleverly feels classic and contemporary at the same time. And the cocktail link is playful in a grown-up way. I’d wear it.

Penhaligon’s Juniper Sling Eau de Toilette 50ml £78; 100ml, £110. Available from Penhaligon’s branches nationwide, or online at penhaligons.com

  1. I’ve just bought this to wear as my wedding scent – I’m wearing a 1930’s style slinky dress and we’re having a grouse-shooting inspired autnumnal picnic – think Gosford Park and Bright young things, with a bit of Jeeves and wooster thrown in. I was looking for a scent that would fit in with all of this and was passing Penhaligons today and there it was! art deco, decadent bottle – masculine in a fresh, peppery way – noticable and original. I like it very much – although you do have to wear a LOT of it, to get a real kick of the scent. I love the name and the juniper – you can really drink it in. The staff at penhaligons told me that it is created b ythe same perfumier that created Angel for thierry Mugler – another edible/taste orientated scent. It’s lush without being heady and flowery. I for one, will be wearing it and hoping that evokes the smell of one of Bertie Wooster’s damn fine fillies shimmying though a Charleston on the dance floor.
