We haven’t seen one yet but it’s only a matter of time before International Women’s Day (8th March in case you didn’t know and if so, shame on you!) gets Hallmarked. But who needs cards when you can celebrate the power and brilliance of the female species with a cocktail created by some of the most prominent women who are calling the shots in the drinks biz?
The pre-International Women’s Day shebang at London Cocktail Club Goodge Street is a case in point. Drinks ambassadors Karine Tillard (Patrón Tequila), Clotilde Lataille (French Aperitif at Pernod Ricard), Selina Raggett (Death’s Door Spirits) and Amanda Humphrey (Makers Mark) join forces for a one-night only event called G.L.ambassadors (geddit?). On the night they’ll each be offering a drink heroing the incredible spirits they work with and even better, proceeds from the drinks will go to Rosa – The UK Women and Girls Fund. Good times are guaranteed as the evening will have a distinct 80s vibe with glow sticks, the best 1980s pop and rock, plus Lycra, air guitar and mucho, mucho glitter.
It all kicks off at 4.30pm and goes on ’til late at LCC Goodge Street, 61 Goodge Street, W1T 1TL. Don’t miss it.

That should warm you up nicely for the International Women’s Day event at Super Lyan. Here’s where GM Maja Jaworska will be bringing together some of her favourite female bartenders to join her for a special Lyaness takeover.
It has all the signs of being a roaring success with Rachelle Hair, new to the Super Lyan team from Sydney’s award-winning bar The Baxter Inn and Anita O’Connell restaurant manager from Cub upstairs in the mix. So far, so keeping-it-in-the-family… Joining the Super Lyan/Cub crew behind the stick will be Andrea Montague (John Dewar & Sons), Georgie Bell (Global Malts Ambassador, Bacardi), Terri Brotherston (Maxxium), and Abigail Clephane (Bruichladdich). Great drinks are a given and like the G.L.ambassadors event above, proceeds from the evening will go to a women’s charity – in this case, Womankind.
The fun starts at 7pm on 8th March at Super Lyan, 155 Hoxton Street, N1 6PJ.
