Tales of the Cocktail on Tour Edinburgh: day 4 picks

SHARE

Oh boy, did we have fun yesterday! Yes, we could do with a lie-in after the Brooklyn in Bramble with Jazzie B and the Lords of the Playlist DJ sets at Panda & Sons action last night, but why would we do that when there are more seminars to be had?

You’ll find us at:

Liquid Intelligence

Dave Arnold and Don Lee get geeky in the best possible way, talking all things cocktail technology. There will be carbonation, there will be rapid infusions and you can bet your booty that there will be centrifugation techniques – science will never be such fun as learning from these two.

Drambusters: Why Scotch belongs in cocktails

There’s also this – what guarantees to be a fascinating insight into the history of Scotch and the significant role it has to play in cocktails. The panel definitely know their stuff: sharing their knowledge and passion for the spirit are Ryan Chetiyawardana, Georgie Bell, Mike Aikman and Tom Walker, all who have their bartending roots in Edinburgh.

Just Swizzle It!

The humble but mighty swizzle stick comes under the spotlight in this session led by Daniyel Jones, Martin Cate and Summer-Jane Bell. Learn about it’s ascent from cooking tool to nature’s drinks blender and taste a few of the cool and refreshing drinks that bear its name, including the famous Queen’s Park Swizzle and a few new favourites.

Small fish in a big pond

It would be plain rude not to check out the long and very impressive history of Edinburgh’s bar scene – we’re being hosted in the city after all. Edinburgh stalwarts Ally Martin, Andy Gemmell, Craig Harper, Stuart McCluskey and Mike Aikman share their stories (along with cocktails made using Scottish spirits, Hendrick’s, Monkey Shoulder and Drambuie, of course).

All seminars are ticketed only events and take place at The Assembly Rooms.
