Yup, we’ve gone and joined the rest of the world and launched a bloomin’ podcast. It’s very much a work in progress, so please bear with us – we really do get better as the weeks go on (Gary is a natural in the voice department; Sandrae prefers to write!)
Listen here:
Vocals aside, it’s a cocktail (almost) hour aimed at cocktail lovers like us – consumers who appreciate the crafting of quality drinks and want to know more about them. To that end, we give our views on new and existing products – from rums and gins to non-alcoholic options and ready-to-drink pouches and cans. We pick out books that we think deserve a space in your cocktail library and share our thoughts on a featured bar of the week.
It’s not just us jibber-jabbering on to each other though, in each episode we ask an industry expert to share a cocktail hack and tips for making quality drinks at home.
For our launch episode three is the magic number as we review one in a series of three delicious rums from the Caribbean (Jung & Wulff), sample a trio of sexy new shochus from Japan (SG Shochu) and dive into a brilliant book featuring 100 gin recipes using only three ingredients (Sip – 100 Gin Cocktails With Only Three Ingredients).
Insider know-how comes courtesy of the three top guns at the award-winning Connaught Bar in London, Ago Perrone, Giorgio Bargiani and Maura Milia who share their invaluable tips on everything you need to know to make the perfect Dry Martini, including when to shake, how to stir and the all-important ingredient, ice.
And our bar review is without doubt of the poshest pop-up we’ve ever been to, Solas at the Savoy. It’s a real corker not only in the looks department but also the food and drink, courtesy of Bowmore Single Malt Islay Whisky.
What we’re mixing: a three ingredient special (natch) – the Negroni.
Please subscribe, download, like, tell your friends – all of those things that share the love and make us feel like people are listening. Like we said, it gets sooo much better… In the next few episodes we visit A Bar With Shapes For A Name, Tayer + Elementary, Side Hustle and Claridges and speak to guests including Simone Caporale, Camille Vidal, JJ Goodman and Jim Meehan.
