Huzzah! The first dedicated Asia’s 50 Best Bars list has been announced and it’s very bit exciting as we hoped it would be with restaurant bars, speakeasies, hotel bars, and tiki themed venues all getting a piece of the action.
It’s good news for Singapore. Not only has Proof & Company’s 28 Hong Kong Street come up trumps securing the top spot – huge congrats to Michael Callahan, Zdenek Kastanek, David Cordoba and the team – but Manhattan Bar made the top five, Operation Dagger and Jigger & Pony are in the top ten and another five Singapore bars including Tippling Club sit comfortably in the top 50. Go Singapore!
Mind you, Hong Kong isn’t looking too shabby with an equally impressive nine bars on the list. Top destinations include Lobster Bar & Grill at number four, Quinary at six and The Pontiac at 19. Big ups to Shingo Gokan at Speak Low in China for securing second place on the list while third does to High Five in Tokyo. Congratulations to Ueno-san, hugely well deserved.
And without further ado, drum roll please for the list…

Hong Kong did really well and the diversity of the bar scene here is amazing ! The Vibe of New York in Asia is exactly here with super hidden places like Stockton, amazing Service in Zuma, Vibe of Pontiac, hospitality of Lobster bar, molecular like Quinary or Vea, innovative like the Pawn and many many others ! Thanks to all bartenders who kick for this city, lah !
Looking forward to visiting this year and checking it out for ourselves.
