December 1st: time to get serious about what’s in your glass. Cue Jack Daniel’s Single Barrel. If the look of the bottle isn’t enough to convince you this is seriously good stuff then its contents most definitely will…
This is Jack with boots on. Rich, robust and bursting with toasty, oaky goodness it’s punctuated with delicious cooked fruit notes and hints of creamy vanilla. That intensity is no accident – the barrels that make the grade for this particular bottling come from the top racks of the warehouse where the extreme changes in temperature make for a deeper, more pronounced colour and flavour. And as the contents come from a single barrel, no two batches are ever the same.
Purists will argue that this is a product crafted to enjoy neat. We say it tastes equally good straight and in cocktails. Try it in The Curtain Raiser cocktail (see below) specially created to dazzle the guests during the post-party for the Old Vic’s star-studded fundraising gala where the company somehow manage to conceive, write, compose and stage four brand new musicals in 24 hours. They really need a quality drink after that!
Alternatively, you can buy it by the bottle, priced around £40 from Gerry’s, Master of Malt and The Whisky Exchange. If you’ really want to show off, invest in a whole barrel (yes, really!) See Jack Daniel’s Buy The Barrel programme for more details.
The Twenty Four Hour Musicals Celebrity Gala takes place on Sunday 9 December from 8pm. Tickets from £75 including interval cocktails. See oldvictheatre.com, or call the box office on: 0844 871 7628 for bookings and further details.
