Three drinks for the spring Bank Holiday

We love our Martinis more than most. Even so, for lazy Bank Holidays when the imbibing invariably begins in the day with a drink at the barbie, we’re more inclined to reach for something long, cool and refreshing. Take your pick from these three thirst quenchers from Appleton. If the rum goodness doesn’t make you feel like summer is on it’s way, quite frankly, nothing will…

Voodoo

50ml Appleton Estate V/X rum
2 tsps of caster sugar
25ml sweet vermouth
100ml cloudy apple juice
25ml fresh lime juice
Sprinkle of cinnamon

Method:
Add the lime juice to the glass and dissolve the sugar into it. Then add the cubed ice and the rest of the ingredients and stir well. Garnish with ground cinnamon and apple slices.

Jamaican Mule

50ml Appleton V/X rum
150ml ginger beer
Squeeze of fresh lime

Method:
Pour Appleton Estate VX into a glass filled with ice. Add ginger beer to taste and top off with a squeeze of lime. Garnish with a lime wedge.

Mai Tai

50ml Appleton Estate V/X
20ml fresh lime juice
12 1/2ml orange Curaçao
10ml orgeat
10ml sugar syrup
Sprig of mint

Method:
Combine all ingredients with ice in a cocktail shaker and shake hard. Strain and pour into a rocks glass filled with cubed ice. Garnish with a lime wedge and a sprig of mint.
