It’s been so long since we last posted, we’re getting itchy fingers. So we’ve decided to continue our ramblings while we work on our brand new design. Truth is, it’s been awfully busy here at Cocktail Towers. We got married for a start, which just goes to show a little bit of Cocktail Loving goes a long, long way.

Enough of that and on to the business in hand. Over the past few months we’ve made some fantastic friends on Twitter, picked up top tips from The Maestro Salvatore Calabrese, interviewed World Class 2010 winner Erik Lorincz; joined the Juniper Society at Graphic Bar and tasted an array of genius gins including Beefeater Summer, Sacred, No 3, Bloom, Berkeley Square, No. 3 and Calhoun. Our favourite? Ms S is rather fond of Sacred but as for Mr G, let’s just say a bottle of No. 3 is chilling in our freezer right now…

Key moments since we last posted include a private audience learning how to mix the ultimate martini with the charming Alessandro Palazzi (see left); tasting Scotchka, a fantastically original hybrid of scotch and vodka, created by Tony Conigliaro and creating a bespoke gin and absinthe with Ian and Hilary, our new friends at Sacred gin.

As for our favourite places, we loved the delightful Gin Bar at the Serpentine Bar & Kitchen. Not only can you find some of the tastiest gin cocktails here, we’re particularly fond of the fact they’re served from a retro camper van overlooking the lake. Perfect for summer evenings. Speaking of seasonal hotspots, we also like the recently updated rooftop bar at The Trafalgar. With a fresh lick of paint, a change of upholstery and a vamped-up cocktail list, this has become one of the coolest hang-outs of our freakishly good summer (right). A note from Ms S here, this one is really good for girls, either on their own or in groups. Ditto the Tanqueray No 10 bar on the roof at Harvey Nichols.

Mr G’s cocktails of note include Alessandro Palazzi’s French 75 as served at the No. 3 launch party, while Ms S is still drooling over Salvatore Calabrese’s Spicy Fifty sampled at a special Stolichnaya Masterclass at The Connaught. Of the many, many concoctions we’ve experimented with at home, we both love our raspberry daiquiris mixed with Desmond Payne’s fragrant Beefeater Summer.

And there you have it: the Cocktail Lovers’ antics over the past few months… It’s good to be back.
