Ketel for Christmas

ByThe Cocktail Lovers

Ketel One goodness for the Christmas holidays

We’ve nearly made it to C-Day. Hooray and hurrah! To celebrate, treat yourself to a bottle of Ketel One vodka and try one (or seeing as we’re all in holiday mode, all three) of these spiffing festive cocktails devised by Ketel One UK Ambassador, Deano Moncrieffe. Not only has he thoughtfully kept tabs of unit consumption (thank you Deano), he’s also provided helpful notes for each drink…

Ketel Crumble

Ketel Crumble (Units: 1.5)

37.5ml Ketel One Vodka
20ml freshly squeezed lemon juice
25ml sugar syrup
75ml pressed apple juice
Dash of vanilla extract
Pinch of ground cinnamon

Shake all ingredients in a cocktail shaker filled with ice and strain into a goblet filled with cubed ice. Garnish with an apple slice and a sprinkle of ground cinnamon.

As the name suggests this perfectly balanced cocktail has all the seductive flavours associated with one of the most popular desserts in the UK. Hints of vanilla, cinnamon and apple marry with the velvet mouth feel of Ketel One vodka. Yum!

Espresso Martini

Espresso Martini (Units: 2.2)

50ml Ketel One vodka
37.5ml hot espresso coffee
12.5ml sugar syrup
7ml Grind coffee liqueur (or Kahlua coffee liqueur)
3 coffee beans

Shake all ingredients with ice and fine strain into chilled martini glass.

The perfect New Year’s Eve after dinner cocktail for coffee lovers. Don’t worry if you don’t have an espresso maker – all you really need is some good quality coffee. Perhaps add a little more coffee to your cocktail than the recipe suggests above, just to give it more depth.”

Chocolate Chilli Mule (Units 1.8)

37.5ml Ketel One Vodka
10ml white chocolate liqueur or crème de cacao (white)
Ginger ale
Quarter of a small red chilli (de-seeded and chopped in small pieces)
Lime wedge

Build ingredients in the order listed above into a high ball glass. After you have topped up with ginger ale, squeeze the juice of a lime wedge into your glass and drop the piece of lime into your glass. Sprinkle the small pieces of red chilli on the top. Gently stir and serve.

Add some spice to your New Year’s Eve with the Chocolate Chilli Mule. Chocolate and chilli are a match made in a spicy heaven, ginger and chilli are perfectly matched, chilli and lime are great friends and when you put them altogether you have a wonderful taste sensation. Enjoy but be careful with the chilli! You only need a very small piece of red chilli for this cocktail as the chilli pieces infuse in the cocktail very quickly. That’s why it’s also important to add a good squeeze of lime wedge to balance this delicious drink.”

Deano’s Top Tip for making Homemade sugar syrup

To make homemade sugar syrup simply add equal measures of water and sugar to a medium-sized saucepan and heat gently while stirring regularly. It is important that you do not allow it to boil, once the sugar has dissolved leave the syrup to cool. After you have used the desired amount for your cocktails you should keep the sugar syrup in the fridge in a sealed bottle and keep for 4-5 days.”
