If you’re a bartender you know just how inspiring it is to share ideas and experiences. Now The Opihr World Adventure Cocktail Competition challenges you to take your creativity further still by actually sharing ingredients. Opihr Oriental Spiced Gin takes its inspiration from the ancient Spice Route, where merchants would travel thousands of miles trading exotic spices and botanicals from distant lands. Today Opihr Oriental Spiced Gin is crafted with hand-picked botanicals including cubeb from Indonesia, black pepper from India and coriander from Morocco. Perfect in a Gin and Tonic or as a basis for a classic cocktail, it also inspires brand new creations. And that’s what The Opihr World Adventure Cocktail Competition is all about.
The Opihr World Adventure Cocktail Competition
First up you have to create a new cocktail inspired by an ingredient that is local to you and that also compliments the unique characteristics of Opihr Oriental Spiced Gin. Then you simply have to take a photo and post in to Instagram, along with the story behind your cocktail and especially the use of your local ingredient. Remember, you must tag @opihrgin, include #OpihrWorld and geotag the city from where you’re posting.
The bartenders who create the most inspiring recipes will be invited to a regional final in their home country to share the cocktail and its story.
Bartenders, what local ingredient will you be using?The winners of these regional finals will then be on their way to Istanbul, for three days of cultural and culinary immersion, as they join their fellow bartenders from around the world. Here they’ll get to learn new skills and experience new flavours as they each trade their local ingredient with those of the other bartenders. They’ll also compete in the world final of the competition presenting their cocktail, explaining the story behind their local ingredient and how they have used it in their Opihr cocktail recipe. As well taking the title the winner will also receive an exclusive mentorship from an established bartender – more details coming soon.

The Opihr World Adventure Cocktail Competition 2018 is open for entries – bartenders, do you have what it takes to make the journey?
The Opihr World Adventure Cocktail Competition is open to entrants from Australia, Germany, Greece, Italy, Mexico, Netherlands, South Africa, South East Asia and United Kingdom. The closing date for entries varies by region so please check with the Opihr representative in your country.
