Things we’re looking forward to this week…

It’s going to be a busy work week so we’re limiting ourselves to selective play, starting with Japanese cocktails and canapes at Feng Sushi in Notting Hill… A couple of days later it’s an evening of mischief and mixology at Bart’s Dark Arts Society, a new monthly event where cocktail lovers get a chance to go all Harry Potter-esque learning magic tricks from some dude called Deceptionist…
A date with tequila and the fabulous Jesse Estes at Callooh Callay beckons later in the week and if we have time, we might pop in for more tequila with Dick Bradsell in the Baja Room at El Camion… As for the weekend, we’re hoping to check out the rather too cool for school sounding Red Market, a giant outdoor festival bar serving cocktail pitchers, ice-pop cocktails, frozen daiquiris, exploding pina coladas and a massive dose of Shoreditch chic.

Words to the wise
We predict Japanese cocktails will be trending now that Ohtake Manabu of Tower’s Bar Bellovisto in Tokyo has taken the Diageo World Class 2011 crown. He beat off 34 of the finest bartending talent around, including our own Jamie MacDonald from The Raconteur in Edinburgh who did Blighty proud by coming third. Well done Jamie.
