Alcoholic Architecture: ImaGINation Is The Name Of The Game
We’re not pretending that a walk-in cocktail doesn’t sound ever-so slightly bonkers. Still, we can’t wait to see what it’s all about. Our little minds are buzzing as to how Bompass & Parr will create their vision of Alcoholic Architecture. Will it be the best thing since Prohibition or will it be the vaporised equivalent of the tequila worm?
Obviously, we’ll tell you more as soon as we’ve experienced it but for the moment we do know that the idea is you get to step inside a cocktail glass, complete with fragrance, visuals and sound. Come again? Yes, we had to rewind at that bit as well. Picture if you will an interior dressed with giant limes and massive straws, then pump in a mist of gin and tonic water. That’ll give you the look and smell of a clean, crisp G&T; for the essential clunk of ice and the splash and fizz of tonic, the team have turned to sound artist Douglas Murphy to create a soundscape. You even get to whet your appetite with a menu designed to complement the breathable beverage. We’ll be at the launch this evening but if you want to check it out for yourself, you better hurry up as you don’t have long. Timed entry runs hourly from 7-9pm on 16-18 April and again from 23-25 April.
Alcoholic Architecture, Ganton St, W1. Tickets available on: jellymongers.co.uk.
