Diamond life: drinks products for the Queen’s Jubilee

If we’re already getting jaded by the number of random products dressed up in Union Flag regalia, Lord alone knows what HM must be thinking.  A ‘Diamond Jubilee Savings Account’ anyone? And please don’t even go there (quite literally) with the specially designed red, white and blue Vajazzle Me kit.

They’re not all cringe worthy though. In between the countless mugs, posters, T-shirts and platform heels, there are a couple of drink-related products that we’re rather proud to have in our collection. And each has a genuine reason to fly the flag…

Angostura Diamond Jubilee Bitters

First up is the rather snazzily designed Diamond Jubilee limited-edition Angostura Bitters bottle regally encased in its silver tube. As a proud Royal Warrant holder since 1824, this is the first time the company have tampered with the iconic, over-sized label. And rather than simply jumping on the bandwagon, Angostura are donating £1 from each bottle sold to the Queen Elizabeth Scholarship Trust, a charity to support the careers of craftspeople in Great Britain.

There are only 6,600 bottles available in the UK, priced at £7 and available at selected branches of Waitrose. Get yours while you can.

Diamond Jubilee Cuvee from Moet & Chandon

The specially designed Moet & Chandon bottle is equally impressive in its simplicity. Like Angostura, Moet hold a Royal Warrant and its Diamond Jubilee Cuvee will be the tipple of choice for Queen and co. at the Diamond Jubilee picnic on 4th June. Don’t fret if your invite goes astray, you can raise a toast with the exact same drink they’ll be quaffing in the gardens at Buckingham Palace before the big concert – it’s currently on sale in Waitrose from £33.49.

Stone’s Green Ginger Wine

Lastly, we rather like the limited-edition Stone’s Green Ginger Wine bottle. It feels quite right for this oh-so British drink first produced in 1740 in the Finsbury Distillery in London to grab a piece of the flag flying action. And as there’s a recipe for a nice, refreshing Lemonade Cup printed on the label, it’s well worth the £5.49 price tag. Available from all major supermarkets.
