We may be rubbish at football but England is doing pretty nicely when it comes to winning global rum cocktail contests thank you very much.
Join us as we talk to Tom Walker, this year’s champ of the
prestigious BACARDÍ Legacy Cocktail Competition in the first
of The Cocktail Lovers Salons at Opium.
It’ll be a relaxed affair – think cocktails round the table with a group of likeminded friends. Tom will be sharing tips on what it takes to create a modern classic, giving an insight into the highs and lows of his Legacy journey and passing round his winning Maid In Cuba cocktail.
Perfect for anyone contemplating entering the BACARDÍ Legacy Cocktail Competition 2015 (see details below), as well as those simply interested in bloody good drinks. Tickets for the session
are free – yes, free! First come, first served.
You’re welcome.

The details:
Regional Finals
For the first time in this prestigious competition, contestants have the opportunity to create a serve with either BACARDÍ Gold rum or BACARDÍ Superior rum.
Out of all the submissions, ten from each region will be chosen
to compete in a regional heat. The heats will take place in
London, Edinburgh, Manchester, Belfast and Bristol between
17th & 27th August and one winner will be picked from each heat
to compete in the national final.
National Final
Seven regional finalists will go head-to-head in front of two hundred of their industry peers at the national final, which takes place on 25th September in London.
The Three Most Promising
Three bartenders from the national final whose cocktails and marketing campaigns show the most promise will receive an exclusive invitation to the BACARDÍ distillery in Mexico and to visit the family archive in Miami, before they embark on a six month campaign to promote their legacy cocktail.
BACARDÍ Legacy Global Cocktail Competition
The ultimate UK winner will compete against rival BACARDÍ drinks from around the world at the BACARDÍ Legacy Global Final in May 2015 (we went this year and we promise you, you’ll have the time of your life). And if that wasn’t enough, the winner also gets taken to Tales of the Cocktail 2015. It’s an amazing competition – not easy, granted but it sure puts your all-round knowledge and skills to the test.
